      American writer, comedian and actor Ayo Edebiri was born on October 3, 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts. Edebiri was raised in Boston by immigrant parents; her mother emigrated from Barbados and her father emigrated from Nigeria. She earned her degree studying dramatic writing at New York University and interned with the Upright Citizens Brigade during her junior year. She began her career performing a stand-up set for the Comedy Central showcase, Up Next. Making a name for herself in comedy, she co-wrote and co-starred with Rachel Sennott in the mini-series "Ayo and Rachel Are Single" (Comedy Central, 2020). She was hired as a staff writer for "Big Mouth" (Netflix, 2017- ) and was later cast as a main voice actor in the series. Edibiri's breakout role was playing Sydney Adamu in the comedy-drama "The Bear" (Hulu, 2022- ). Critics praised her performance which earned her a Primetime Emmy nomination. Building on her success as an actor, she landed a role in Mel Brooks' series " History of the World, Part II" (Hulu, 2023). Meanwhile her career in writing and producer was also garnering praise with an episode she wrote and produced for "What We Do in the Shadows" (FX, 2019- ) getting a nomination for the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Episodic Comedy. Continuing her success as a voice actor, Edibiri played a role in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" (2023) and landed the main role of April O'Neil in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" (2023).
