      Critics Consensus

Well-acted and fiendishly frightening with an emotionally affecting story at its core, It amplifies the horror in Stephen King's classic story without losing touch with its heart.

      J. R. Jones Chicago Reader The serious dramatic themes ring hollow, however, leaving only the paperback boogety boogety to justify the Oscar-bait running time. Apr 9, 2020 Full Review Karen Han Slashfilm The film depends - and succeeds - entirely on the strength of their performances, and for two hours that speed by all too quickly, it's not too much of a stretch to feel like we're on summer vacation with them. Dec 5, 2023 Full Review Serena Seghedoni Loud and Clear Reviews Why is he disguised as a clown? Why is he targeting children? And what's up with his obsession with making people float? All these questions, whose answers are familiar to those of us who have read the novel, are ever so slightly approached in the movie. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 4, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Brandon An amazing Horror movie!! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/05/23 Full Review Martin L It’s not as disturbing as the original. This most likely has to do with the modern Pennywise not looking like an actual clown, but a monster. I think the show runners simply don’t understand why clowns freak out people, which is because a traditional clown looks happy friendly, and clumsy. However if you take those traits and put on an evil entity, disturbance is created. The effects are much better than in the original but lacks the creativity that lacking technology creates. I love this movie! better then the original! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/07/24 Full Review Michael P One of the finest horror movies made. Stayed away from gutters for months. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/17/24 Full Review Niko P It was an amazing experience to watch. I have read the novel twice and the movie really follows King's story well!
