Interesting story, great design, horrible acting, horrible direction, horrible execution. Yes, it's unique, such a wasted opportunity. It may have been groundbreaking if it had actually been released in 1977, but found footage movies require a higher standard of realism and human reaction - this really failed on both fronts.
