Victoria Luxford BBC.com Very complex detective thriller. Guy Pearce (leads) a terrific cast alongside Carrie Anne Moss. If you want to see the beginnings of how Nolan became such a big director, this is one to watch. Rated: 5/5 Aug 11, 2023 Full Review Adam Kempenaar Filmspotting Think of all the ways that a linear film structure stabilizes us - the cause and effect chain of events. But Memento is about a character completely destabilized, so Nolan destabilizes us accordingly in a way maybe no other movie has. Rated: 5/5 Apr 10, 2020 Full Review Joshua Rothkopf In These Times Memento would only be half as fun with only one gimmick or the other. Instead, the backward storytelling and the frozen man make for a wonderful pair, combining into something far more redemptive than it sounds. Mar 16, 2020 Full Review Dan DiNicola The Daily Gazette (Schenectady, NY) Memento isn't an easy film, but it gives viewers plenty to ponder. And Pearce's startling performance is unforgettable. Rated: A Apr 30, 2024 Full Review Akhil Arora AkhilArora.com Memento places you in the mind of the protagonist in a fascinating way—by running it in reverse, you only know as much as the protagonist remembers—and that constantly makes you question what you’ve been told and what you see next. Cameron C Such an awesome concept and executed to perfection. For the average viewer its probably a little confusing especially on the first watch and I like movies that have a definitive ending, whereas in this one you can draw your own assumptions. But wow, awesome movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/24/24 Full Review Average P Rightly revered for its complexity and originality: a detective story told backwards, though if you think about it all detective stories are told backwards - starting with the present day and working back to the crime. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/23/24 Full Review Audience Member Wow, this is a mind-bender in the best way possible. I really enjoy how the story progresses in reverse chronological order, it really makes sense with the amnesia that the narrator has so that you are experiencing things like he does. I'm also incredibly confused by the ending but in a good way that makes me want to watch the movie again. This is just a challenge for me, but it was hard to keep track of character names that never actually get a face until much later, so if I watched this again, I would definitely take notes! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/10/24 Full Review Melissa B This has been one of my favorite films since the first time I saw it and it remains impeccable. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/25/24 Full Review João Victor u Um ótimo filme, feito para fritar a mente. Um Thilher de mistério perfeito.
