Thelma Reviews
Squibb is a delight here, an impish instigator tempered by the more level-headed Roundtree, a great mismatched buddy pairing...

Thoroughly entertained by the majority of it. It definitely fits rather too neatly into the crowd-pleasing Sundance indie dramedy formula, but Squibb really makes this worthwhile regardless. It's a joy just to watch her play the role of action hero.

Thelma doesn't overstay its welcome and does what it should: delivering punchline after punchline and letting Squibb (and the legendary Richard Roundtree in his posthumous role) shine.

Nonagenarian June Squibb is in the driver's seat in this hilarious + heartwarming action comedy. Can't believe this is Squibb's first leading role, but I'd love to see her do more!

Riffs on multiple action beats without leaning into parody.

Thelma is a riotous time at the movies, and so much of that rests on Squibb’s shoulders.

Watch it with your Grandma. They will love it. I wish I could watch it with mine.

The fantastically charming tone is Mr. Margolin’s main achievement, but he also has a remarkable ear for dialogue and the ways in which families use inside jokes.

Thelma may not go down in cinematic history like action stars Jack Ryan, Jason Bourne or Ethan Hunt, but she delivers one great adventure nevertheless.

Bolstered by some cheeky action tropes, including twists, chases, gunplay, and even an explosion, Thelma is more than a winsome romp. It's a real thrill.

It's a blast to watch June Squibb go on her own Mission: Impossible, as she laces up her orthopedic sneakers and kicks her mobility scooter into high gear to take down scammers. A total crowd-pleaser.

It’s the balance of comedy and existential drama that truly elevates Thelma.

Not a hard movie to watch but it’s an easy one to resent, given that Margolin had excellent actors and the opportunity to make something real here, instead of a silly fantasy about an old lady doing dumb action movie stuff.

Thelma is resplendent in its ability to create genuine laughter while remaining sensitive and letting its characters have fun. June Squibb is a wonder- 94 and she’s as funny and charismatic as ever. I dare you not to smile.

There isn't a moment of this film that isn't enjoyable and wholesome, bolstered by June Squibb at her very best in another unforgettable performance.

An entertaining crowd-pleaser, Thelma shows that every grandmother has their inner badass. Sometimes we get too consumed with their perceived frailty to see it.

June Squibb proves she's still on top of her acting game in an energetic, charming adventure comedy that is actually genuinely funny.

Josh Margolin's "Thelma" centers on a 93-year-old who gets phone scammed and goes on a revenge quest. Oscar nominee June Squibb is delightful as the titular character, and Fred Hechinger excels as her loving grandson.
