Love Lies Bleeding Reviews
Sexy, brutal, and unflinching, Love Lies Bleeding is an acting showcase with showstopping performances and visceral violence.
I made an account just so I could tell you all to steer clear of this movie. Typically with A24, you get an amazing movie or you get a movie that’s pretty good. Usually, it’s not that bad of an experience. Never have I ever watched something so poorly thought out. What was the plan? What was the goal? I’m still scratching my head. It falls flat with terrible writing tropes and bad acting. You could tell it wanted to be indie, but also play out like Kill Bill; it did both very badly. The ending left me laughing because of the absolute absurdity. It just sucked. I wish I could go back in time and not watch this.
Very good until the very odd last ten minutes/ending. I won’t spoil but why?
So much potential here and my kind of plot, but this thing never comes together, and totally lost me at the end. A good watch, but too many holes here that can't be covered up by a notable cast.
Why was this movie made?
Love Lies Bleeding starts off in exceedingly familiar thriller territory before becoming so wildly, psychopathically unhinged that it’s frankly astounding how inventive such a film could be in a seemingly overdone neo-noir framework. It was a nearly excellent movie that only got more and more exciting as it went along. I haven’t been this impressed by a film of this nature since Drive. Everyone onscreen absolutely ate the scenery.
It's would've worked if Jackie was a man.
Sat captive by the performance of the lead. This movie included some great effects sprinkled. A great thriller.
A very good lesson on how to NOT make a surrealist film. Carried by K.Stewart and E.Harris. Takes itself way too seriously. Hyper-violence.
Ey! if you gonna pull a big ending you better do it right
Some really unusual, surreal things towards the end, and heavily satirical. It surprises at every turn. Highly recommended.
First of all: One gets the wrong idea about this movie just watching the trailer. It's a very odd movie, partly artistic, partly violent and surely more than just crazy. The best about the movie is the acting of the two lead actresses, Kristen Stewart and Katy O'Brian which pretty much carries the whole thing. Unfortunately it becomes too brutal and violent during the later parts and absolutely absurd close to the end. It's like Thelma and Louise would have met Terry Gilliam and John Woo at the same time. It's more interesting as a personal case study than it is good as a story in itself. All and all it's quirky. 6/10 points!
Filme perfeito recomendo!!!
As much as I like the actors in this film, it was unnecessarily too violent and lost steam too quickly and dragged on with a disappointing ending leaving the audience left hanging. I have to give this a thumbs down unfortunately.
Starts off strong, boosts too much toward the end
The romance between the two main characters is beautifully constructed, their chemistry is palpable and the villain has a strong presence throughout much of the film. However, these fine elements are resolved with an unsatisfactory third act, and the film's climax is a huge disappointment. Love Lies Bleeding goes out of its way to make audiences feel disgusted, and when the credits roll, there is not a lot to take from it.
Visually speaking, Love Lies Bleeding is just a feast for the eyes, Ben Fordesman's cinematography bathes the scenes in a neon-drench palette, along with the set pieces that feel ever so immersive. The violence is shocking and visceral, Glass doesn't shy away from the brutality yet it serves a thematic purpose. Love Lies Bleeding is a bold and audacious piece of filmmaking, an intoxicating cocktail of sex, violence, and unconventional romance.
Gross. So gross. And uninteresting. I wonder what attracted the producers to make this movie. I walked out of the movie theater.
I absolutely loved this movie. Great job!
