A hollow creature feature that suffers from CGI overload.

Namrata Joshi Outlook It's this relentlessness of the action and technology that make the film more of a simulated ride. I wouldn't have boarded. Rated: 1/4 Jan 4, 2019 Full Review Wally Hammond Time Out What's left is a world of industrial Gothicism, nightmare morphing effects, ahistoric gadgetry and Breughel-lite grotesquerie. Nov 1, 2018 Full Review Will Self London Evening Standard The exteriors are fantastic, the castles mega-looming, and there's a beautiful -- if fanciful -- masqued ball which shows off to perfection the costumes contrived by Gabriella Pescucci. Jan 9, 2018 Full Review Sloan Freer Radio Times This is Indiana Jones meets Hammer Horror - the relentless action is blended with a knowing undercurrent and dramatic gothic styling. It just emphasizes how campy the whole premise really is. Nov 16, 2019 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens Hugh Jackman stars as the sexiest Van Helsing to ever hit the screen. Even more impressive... is his larger than life screen presence and physicality that keeps his character from becoming overshadowed by the incredible amount of CGI and monster effects Rated: 3/5 Nov 3, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Mitchell N It is alright. Some of the dialogue is a bit corny or bad, but overall it is alright. The acting is pretty decent and the casting is as well. The CGI doesn't look that good, but that is just because of the age of the movie. Back when it was made, the CGI was probably great, but now it hasn't aged that well. Ending isn't as bad as what many make it out to be. And it is much better than madame web, so it makes it good in my book. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/12/24 Full Review Hannah I Almost a cult classic at this point , good acting , amazing CGI for its time and a gripping tale ! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/07/24 Full Review william s I enjoy this movie. I'm pretty sure it's not actually good, but I'm also pretty sure I don't care. Give me more Hugh Jackman fighting werewolves and vampires and that sweet soundtrack. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/21/24 Full Review Korra N Weird, corny, creepy and, above all else, a hell of a good time at the movies! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Ripper J I thought this was a good movie. I liked the mixing of classic monster stories. The characters were all well written and the acting ranged from great to excellent. The plot was predictable yet satisfying and there was enough humor to balance some of the heavy themes. Yes, the stunts were at some points cartoonish, but this wasn't supposed to be a serious movie. And while Kate Beckinsale is attractive in everything she does, I think her character's style in this movie was gorgeous. Her hair and costume are exceptional. It was a fun action flick that was well acted and satisfying. I've watched the movie several times and I expect I'll see it several more. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review Kalolaine P This movie is such a classic. Great for a family movie night. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews
