Sergio Burstein Los Angeles Times In addition to obtaining outstanding performances from all his actors, the director demonstrates that he has extensive knowledge of the cinematographic language, and uses it to immerse us in its simple but ingenious story. [Full review in Spanish] May 25, 2024 Full Review Claudia Puig FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) A quirky, indie Neo-noir Western with a dash of Coen Brothers and a sprinkle of Tarantino. Darkly funny, well acted, and cleverly written. May 15, 2024 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com "Last Stop in Yuma County" is the kind of movie where you root for the worst to happen, because every escalation of misfortune makes things more entertaining. Rated: 3/4 May 10, 2024 Full Review Lee Zumpe Tampa Bay Newspapers Galluppi, who also wrote the script, conveys a particularly twisted sense of glee in allowing the tension to slowly simmer until it boils over. Jun 15, 2024 Full Review Petr Navovy Pajiba Clocking in at exactly ninety minutes with a rhythm that is thrilling and full of twists and turns, this is a film that is also unafraid to slow things to a crawl and to build tension with craft and patience. Jun 13, 2024 Full Review Jim Laczkowski Director's Club The Coen Brothers-esque execution positions itself as a story contained in a single location but then it takes some unexpected turns in how the narrative unfolds along with character evolution that is darkly funny, but also bleak and disturbing. Hector good story, put together very well👍 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/16/24 Full Review Danny Z Pretty freaking good movie for not as much press given but surprisingly really good and left me thinking. definitely recommend Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/12/24 Full Review Marc Z About As Good An Independent Film as You Will Find. The Last Stop in Yuma County is a terrific small, crime thriller. It is centered around a small Arizona Diner and gas station that becomes the center of a bank robbery hideout and hostage situation. The characters and the film noir are the strengths of this movie. In many ways it pays homage to older films like Psycho, Natural Born Killers, Albino Alligator, and Bogart's The Petrified Forest. The Direction by Francis Gallup is sharp-he is clearly a student of films. The acting of everyone is great. Jim Cummings, as the Norman Bates look alike, is great. Richard Blake, a veteran of Rob Zombie horror, is terrific as one of the bank robbers. Jocelyn Donahue is majestic in the role of the waitress. Faizon Love steals every scene he is in. Quirky, smart, engaging, and with a great soundtrack. I highly recommend it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/16/24 Full Review Audience Member Best surprise of the year. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/14/24 Full Review Audience Member I like the way this movie is filmed, the pace, dialogue, acting and how to make a movie with a small but good cast. Reminds me of Tarantino. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/13/24 Full Review Sarah G So cruel to have a real stuffed bear. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/13/24 Full Review Read all reviews
